Apply for health coverage through Healthcare.gov and see health coverage options for pregnancy and childbirth. Having a baby qualifies you for a special enrollment period.

Additionally, Medicaid, MIChild, Healthy Kids, and the Healthy Michigan Plan covers maternity care and childbirth. You can apply for these programs in MI Bridges. If you’re eligible, you may receive assistance for health costs for the past three months.

If your infant is enrolled in Medicaid, he or she also has dental coverage through the Healthy Kids program.

Find a full list of healthcare coverage programs offered by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services here. Also, check out these additional resources to help you find affordable, low-cost health care providers.
