Overview of Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries (DRMM)

Founded on February 14, 1909, Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries (DRMM) has been a cornerstone of support for individuals and families in need. Under the leadership of Dr. Chad Audi, DRMM offers comprehensive services including emergency shelter, housing, treatment programs, feeding initiatives, job training, and spiritual life support. Each day, DRMM houses up to 2,500 people and serves approximately 4,500 meals, operating across five counties with 11 locations.

How to Access Emergency Shelter and Housing

DRMM provides emergency shelter and housing services to those experiencing homelessness in Detroit, Hamtramck, and Highland Park. To access these services:

  • Contact CAM Detroit: Call (313) 305-0311 for immediate assistance.
  • Visit CAM Detroit Online: Visit camdetroit.org for more information.
  • Detroit Housing Services Helpline: Call 866-313-2520, available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

Volunteer Opportunities

DRMM offers numerous volunteer opportunities, allowing community members to make a meaningful impact. Volunteer roles include:

  • Serving Meals: Help prepare and serve meals to residents and visitors.
  • Toiletry and Clothing Drives: Organize drives to collect essential items.
  • Skilled Labor: Provide expertise in plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, IT support, and more.
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Assist with keeping DRMM’s facilities clean and safe.
